Glimpses on Vice President of India visit to Seychelles 8-12 Sept

 

National Assembly election

    Seychelles went for assembly election 4-6 Dec 2002. The Seychelles People's Progressive Front (SPPF), Seychelles Nationalist Party (SNP) and the Democratic Party (DP) were the main parties in the fray. SPPF secured 18 seats whereas SNP secured 7 seats. In proportion to the votes secured,  SPPF has added 5 seats and SNP with 4 seats. In the final tally SPPF has 18+5 = 23 seats and SNP 7+4 = 11 seats in the 2-party Assembly. 


Yoga Classes in Seychelles

Yoga workshop Nov 5 - Dec 15, 2002, Dojo Stadium

        At the initiative of the High Commission, a renowned Yoga expert, Yogacharya Sri S R Prasad associated with the Divine Life Society, Rishikesh, for over 25 years, visited   Seychelles to conduct a 6-week Yoga Workshop.  The workshop, organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Local Government and the National Sports Council was launched by Minister Sylvette Pool on November 5.  The Yoga classes, conducted four times a week in two 1-hour sessions for adults and children, have turned out to be extremely popular. Sri Prasad also took classes for employees of the Seychelles Tourism Marketing Authority (STMA) and provided an intensive “Training for Trainers” session for coaches and Physical Instructors of Seychelles. Participants were presented certificates at the closing ceremony on Dec 17.
