The second largest island – 7 miles long and 2 wide – Praslin is just a 15-minute scheduled flight from Mahé. With a lush, mountainous landscape and soft, sandy beaches, Praslin is quieter and offers a range of stylish small hotels, safe swimming and superb snorkelling.
While on Praslin, explore the living coral and amazing variety of tropical fish. The famous – and easy – walk through the rich tropical forest of the World Heritage Site Vallée de Mai, home of the endemic Seychelles Black Parrot and the world’s largest nut, the coco de mer, should not be missed. A short crossing from Praslin takes you to tranquil La Digue, where ox-drawn carts will taxi you to beautiful Anse Source d’Argent (the Bacardi beach); to Cousin, with its rich bird life, including the Seychelles fody; and to Curieuse with its colony of giant land tortoises.
