The National Sports Council
(NSC) set up as a body corporate under the NSC ACT
[CAP 145] to further the promotion and organisation of
sports in Seychelles by all available methods.
Objectives
ensuring that sports are
run in accordance with the policy of the
Government;
encouraging in
co-operation with the Sports Federations, the
attainment of high standards in sports;
approving calendars and
programmes proposed by Sports Federations;
encouraging and
supporting participation in sporting events
abroad by individuals and teams from Seychelles;
entering into and
maintaining relations with International
Organisations likely to grant financial,
material or technical assistance for the
development of sport in Seychelles;
co-operating with
International Bodies and Institutions which
specialize in the field of sports research,
physical education, sports medicine and sports
journalism;
adopting policies and
proposals in statutory land use plans;
adopting policies for the
overall organisation and development of sports;
providing access and participation in sport
activities for as many Seychellois as possible;
providing capital
investment with an emphasis on basic community
facilities in areas of need and on refurbishment
on existing facilities;
encouraging revenue
schemes in support of sports development.
As we enter
this new millennium our new Seychelles Sports Logo
carries a message of unity, reflected in our national
colours as well as balance drive to reach the highest
level, all seen in the colourful peace and beauty of our
natural environment. It will create an identity of all
of us working in sports promotion as well as unify our
various initiatives.
