The handing over of the lease for Aride, from the
British Royal Society for Nature Conservation to Seychelles' own Island
Conservation Society, marks the international recognition of the
abilities of Seychelles' environmentalists.
With the lease of the island and an almost half
million Rupee donation by Seychelles Breweries, the Island Conservation
Society is perfectly placed to safeguard one of our national treasures
for generations to come.
Supported by the Ministry of Environment, the
Island Development Corporation, Seychelles Breweries and a host of
experts form Seychelles' NGO community, the Island Conservation Society
looks set to choose the right path for Aride.
With Government, civil society and private bodies
joining together in the campaign to protect Aride we should all look to
do our bit to conserve the environment.
From walking short distances instead of taking the
car, to offering our time and assistance to environmental organisations,
there is a part for every one of us to play. |
