The Seychelles Hospitality and Tourism Training
College (SHTTC) is encouraging pupils in Standard 5 to consider
continuing their studies by following courses on offer at the college.
The doors of the SHTTC were thrown open on
Wednesday September 24, to students from secondary schools across the
country to give them the opportunity to gain an insight into what goes
on at the college and so better inform their decisions about future
studies. The Open Day will continue on Thursday September 25 and on
Friday September 26.
Director for Human Resource Development at the
Ministry of Tourism and Transport, Ms Wendy Didon, said that the college
currently has 192 students, but will be looking to raise this to a full
complement of 210 when this year's students graduate and the new intake
join in February.
Mrs Didon said that the college will continue to
look at ways of increasing the number of students that it is able to
enrol, but added that financial constraints will prevent this from
happening next year.
In addition to guiding prospective students around
the college, SHTTC students have also shown their parents what goes on
at the La Misere campus.
Ms Didon explained that this was done in order to
get the parents more involved with their children's learning, especially
as they are seen as crucial in providing support ahead of examinations. |
