Long years of service for employees in the tourism
and transport ministry were recognised in an end-of-year ceremony held
recently.
Officially opened by the outgoing Minister for
Tourism and Transport Simone De Comarmond, the ceremony put the
spotlight on a number of staff members in the ministry, ranging from
fire fighters to air traffic controllers, who have clocked extensive
time in public service.
Special recognition was given to Margueritte Marie
Govinden, with 41 years of service to date, and Harry Radegonde, who has
been with the ministry for 40 years.
Minister De Comarmond, along with the current
principal secretaries for the tourism and transport divisions, Eddie
Belle and Gerard LaFortune, respectively, were on hand to present
wrapped Christmas gifts to Ms Govinden, Mr Radegonde and other veteran
employees.
Certificates were also presented to some staff
members for completing various programmes for staff development, such as
computing courses or specialised training modules.
The ceremony's programme also dipped into the
ministry's own ranks to provide musical entertainment for the audience. |
