This breath taking picture will greet 116 special
guests on their arrival at the Plantation Club and Resort on Saturday
May 8 and Sunday on May 9 for an important international tourism
meeting.
It graces the front cover of the delegates' printed
programme and will give them an instant sample souvenir of the memorable
scenes they will have seen on their way from the airport to Baie Lazare.
Beneath the cover, however, lie the details of the
hard work they need to do during the World Tourism Organisation (WTO)
Commission for Africa's 41st meeting that is due to end on Thursday May
13.
As they discuss on the best strategy WTO should
adopt for the Millennium Development goals, we in Seychelles must not be
complacent that our picturesque country will automatically and always
draw tourists to our shores.
Like the delegates, we must constantly seek ways of
ensuring that we take care of our end of this global industry in a
sustainable manner, considering how important it is as a major pillar of
our economy.
Obviously we must start by giving these special
guests the best of our Creole hospitality, for tomorrow they will for us
be the good ambassadors of our industry where they live, visit or work. |
