Maldives Hotel and Trade Exhibition (MHTE), the
biggest hotel and trade fair in the Maldives, opened last Tuesday in the
Maldivean capital, Male.
Launched by Tourism Minister Hassan Sobir at a special ceremony, the
three-day fair is held by Maldives National Chamber of Commerce and
Industry and organised by Artline design.
This is the second time that the annual fair is being held, and
participants said that they were satisfied with the organisation and
arrangements made at the event.
The fair aims to bring into contact manufacturers and suppliers of
products that are relevant for the business and hotel community.
Some 93 local and foreign parties have opened stalls at this year’s
event. Though the first two days of the fair were open only to hoteliers
and businessmen, the last day was opened to the general public.
The hotel at which the event is being held, the
Dhiraagu, is the main sponsor of the trade fair. Other sponsors include
Sri Lankan airlines, Mookai Hotel, Logistics Maldives, Focus Computers,
and Haveeru Daily as the official newspaper sponsor of the event from
Maldives, and Daily News as the official newspaper sponsor from Sri
Lanka.
