The British weekly celebrity magazine "Hello"
recently praised Denis Island as one of it's three "Robinson Crusoe"
dream holiday islands, in a feature urging it's readers to "get away
from it all."
The trio of Denis, Fafa Island in Tonga and Soneva
Fushi in the Maldives, were picked as Robinson Crusoe island, offering,
"the ultimate holiday – glorious sunshine, palm-fringed beaches lapped
by crystal clear waters and plenty of peace, tranquillity and
seclusion."
The May 13 issue then went on to give a short and
sweet write-up to each of it's three chosen islands.
About Denis it said: ".. precisely four degrees
south of the equator lies tiny, crescent-shaped Denis Island, which
remains an undiscovered oasis of beauty and tranquillity."
The article continued: "Both the culture and
language are still distinctly French, and the only place to stay on the
whole island combines Gallic elegance with laid back sophistication."
Describing the accommodation as "magical", the
article added that the snorkelling and diving are unsurpassed, and
concluded: "If you want to know how it feels to have your own private
island, don't hesitate – head straight for Denis Island."
In a brief telephone interview with Seychelles
Nation, from the Cannes Film Festival, in France, at which he is
promoting Denis Island, Mr Alain St Ange, General Manager of Denis
Island, said that he was very happy with the article.
Mr St Ange explained that the way in which the
article had been written showed that Denis provides a different type of
holiday, adding that it was made clear that it was not a large,
impersonal five star resort, but instead a combination of simplicity and
pure luxury.
The Hello
article on Denis Island came just ahead of the STMA organised UK
roadshow and the combination of both marketing opportunities should have
generated a good deal of publicity for the destination, within the
British tourism market.
