Staff with a combined 480 years of service at the
Plantation Club Resort were Friday December 12 given certificates in
recognition of their commitment to the hotel.
Resident manager Francis Mondon handed out 12
certificates to staff who have spent five years with the hotel, six to
staff of ten years standing and recognised an impressive 24 staff who
have been with the hotel for 15 years.
Head of the hotel's human resources, Nichol
Thelermont, said that the presentation of certificates to long serving
staff usually takes place at the staff Christmas party, but that, due to
the financial situation, this year's party had been cancelled.
To mark the certificate presentation the hotel had
instead gathered a large number of it's 335 staff together, to applaud
their colleagues and enjoy some food and drink with one another.
Mr Thelermont explained that the recognition of
long serving staff was just one of the hotel's staff incentive features,
which also include an Employee of the Month award, the winner of which
receives R300 and a meal for two in the hotel's restaurant, and an
Employee of the Year scheme, for which the winner is given R5,000, a
ticket to Mauritius and free accommodation while there.
Mr Thelermont said that the incentives helped
reward dedicated staff and acted to encourage other employees to work
harder.
