Addressing standardisation and integration in
post-secondary education and training will be the challenge for
educationists attending this year's, the 5th Annual Education
Conference.
Education Minister Danny Faure said on Wednesday
September 17, at the International Conference Centre when he officially
opened the conference, whose main session will take place at the
National Theatre on Thursday September 18.
"Standardisation and integration are important in
order to be consistent and to have a common approach," the minister told
government ministers, members of the diplomatic corps and other guests
who included Opposition leader Wavel Ramkalawan and top government
officials.
Mr Faure said that the conference on Thursday,
will focus on competency-based approach to education, and that training
will be discussed, its implications assessed and its use for post
secondary education examined.
One of the guest speakers at the conference,
Quebec-based consultant Carl Filiatreault gave a keynote address in
which he dwelled on the importance of training being oriented towards
meeting demands within the labour market. |
