Air Seychelles is
transferring its weekly flight from Munich to Frankfurt as from this
weekend and will also continue offering seats on the flight operated by
Condor.
The national
airline began flying to Frankfurt, Germany on October 26, 1983 until
March 2001 when it moved its scheduled flights to Munich and continued
operating until this week.
Air Seychelles'
Director for Commercial Sales, Mr Maxence Griffon Du Bellay, said: "The
move to Munich was motivated with the hope of achieving better passenger
loads through commercial agreements with German domestic carriers and
the growing local market from southern Germany. In the beginning the
results were slow but improved during the course of this year."
Mr Du Bellay
explained that Air Seychelles decided to return its international
service to Frankfurt as from November 1 this year as this German city
fits well in the national airline's marketing strategy which aims to
focus more on principal European hubs such as Paris-Charles De Gaulle,
London-Heathrow, Frankfurt-am-Main and Rome-Fiumicino.
"By operating out
of Frankfurt, Air Seychelles will also benefit from the extensive German
Rapid train and Inter-City train network transporting and connecting
passengers from other German and European cities," Mr Du Bellay added.
Meanwhile, Air
Seychelles will maintain its code-share agreement with the German
carrier, Condor Flugdienst GmbH, whereby the national carrier will
continue having a limited number of seats on the
Frankfurt-Seychelles-Frankfurt sector on the weekly Condor flights.
The Air Seychelles
flight to Frankfurt departs Mahe on Saturdays at 0935 hrs and returns
the next day at 0715 hrs. As from next week, the Condor flights will
arrive Mahe on Mondays at 0845 hrs and returns at 2350hours on the same
day.
