The Minister for
Education and Youth Mr Danny Faure has reminded teachers that their
contribution in the development of our society is greatly valued.
"This is why we
remain mindful of the special responsibilities given to teachers and
also why we strive to create the right conditions for our teachers to
execute their responsibilities in the most effective manner," Minister
Faure says in his message on the occasion of Teachers' Day 2003.
These, Minister
Faure says, include the putting in place of various support structures
ranging from training, infrastructure development and other support
mechanisms at the school and the ministry headquarters, as well as at
the community levels.
Noting that society
as a whole has high expectations of teachers, Minister Faure says it is
for this reason that all key stakeholders in education need to make a
collective effort to ensure that our teachers get the support they need
in their work.
"As a ministry, we
remain fully committed in this respect and will continue to upgrade the
type of support that we provide to teachers," Minister Faure adds in his
message.
Minister Faure
thanks all teachers for their hard work, commitment to teaching and
learning, and for being there to provide our young and aspiring citizens
with the guidance they need in order to develop into mature and
responsible adults.
Teachers' Day, the
minister notes, is also an occasion for us all to give further
recognition to the achievements of teachers and renew our pledge to
bring out the best in our students. "Remember that the good school
begins, not with material equipment, but with you - the good teacher,
your enthusiasm and your commitment. My ministry is also grateful for
your closeness to our youth in thought and actions and for the team
spirit that you seek to promote in your workplace," Minister Faure's
message says. |
