Construction plans
for the extension and upgrade to five-star status of Le Northolme Hotel
at Glacis have been submitted to the Ministry of Tourism & Transport
for approval.
If the project is
approved and goes according to plan, Le Northolme Hotel, one of
Seychelles' oldest tourism establishments, will gain six new standard
suites, six superior suites, 29 luxurious, single-standing villas with
individual garden areas, a horizontal-view swimming pool with bar, two
speciality restaurants with adjacent sophisticated cocktail bar in
addition to various other extensions and facilities.
According to the
hotel's management the closure for Le Northolme Hotel is provisionally
planned for the 15th of May 2003. The hotel will be under construction
and renovation for almost one year and is scheduled to reopen in April
2004.
Both the interior
design and exterior architecture are focusing on preserving the hotel's
history and introducing a unique Creole touch that will complement the
surrounding vegetation, which will be preserved to the utmost possible.
It is to be recalled
that seven months ago, Le Northolme Hotel was taken over by Crown &
Champa Resorts and by Universal Hotels, both Maldivian companies, and
The Wren's Hotel Group, a UK-based company that is entrusted with the
project preparations and the present and future hotel operations.
Meanwhile Le
Northolme Hotel will remain fully operational until the proposed closure
date.
