The start of the
first school term for this year has now been postponed to Tuesday
January 14 for some students, while others will resume classes on
Wednesday January 15 and Monday January 20, the Ministry of Education
and Youth has announced.
Originally the first
school term for this year was scheduled for Monday January 13 after a
five-week long holiday.
The Ministry of
Education has announced that with the exception of Anse Boileau crèche,
all crèche children will begin classes on Tuesday 14. The same date
applies for pupils in Primary Two (P2) up to Primary Six (P6) and
students in Secondary Two (S2) up to Secondary Five (S5). Primary One
(P1) pupils and Secondary One (S1) students will resume classes on
Wednesday January 15.
Children attending
the Anse Boileau crèche will begin their first term a week later, on
Monday January 20.
During this term,
students will follow classes for a duration of 13 weeks and enjoy
mid-term breaks on Friday February 28 and Monday March 3.
The first term will
end on Friday April 11, when the students will start their first
three-week Easter Holiday.
The second term,
which will start on Monday May 5, will consist of 14 weeks of schooling
and a mid-term break on Monday June 30. Like in the past, the month of
June will see a host of public holidays, namely on the occasion of the
Liberation Day on Thursday June 5, National Day on Wednesday June 18 and
Corpus Christi on Thursday June 19. The second term will end on Thursday
August 14, when the students will enjoy a four-week holiday.
The third and last
school term for the year will start on Monday September 15 with 13 weeks
of schooling, a mid-term break on Friday October 31 and a public holiday
on Monday December 8. The Christmas Holiday will start on Saturday
December 13 and end on Sunday January 18, 2004.
