Hotel extends monthly sponsorship to orphanage

The Praslin-based Paradise Sun Hotel will be giving a monthly donation of essential commodities to the Ste Elizabeth Convent for the orphans that reside there.

The initial donation was made last week at the convent, when the hotel's general manager, John Nothard, made the presentation to the convent’s superior, Sister Ecclesia.

The donation consisted of basic commodities like rice, lentils, sugar and chicken. But starting next month, the convent will receive a R5,000 cheque monthly from the hotel to be used according to the needs of the orphanage.

According to Mr Nothard, the hotel did not hesitate to lend a hand for such a good cause after the convent's request.

“In future, the hotel plans to donate other items such as linen, sheets and towels to the convent,” said Mr Nothard.

Sister Ecclesia thanked the management of the hotel for the gesture, while the orphans sang a song to express their appreciation.

The personnel manager of Paradise Sun, Cecile Pickering, added that in the future the hotel plans to organise trips for the children to come and visit Praslin and the hotel itself.
