A 34-year-old man
was on Monday December 15, sentenced to 20 years imprisonment after
being found guilty of drug importation and trafficking by the Supreme
Court.
It is to be
recalled that the man, Michel Bibi, escaped from lawful custody and
later left the country. He was apprehended earlier this year in
Mombassa, Kenya by Kenyan police after the Seychelles police issued a
warrant through Interpol Kenya for his arrest. He spent more than 2
years abroad before being caught and brought back to Seychelles to face
justice.
Bibi was being
remanded at the Central Police Station since August 8, 2003.
In view of the
fact that his sentences run concurrently, Bibi will serve a 10-year term
in jail.
In a separate
case, the court on Monday sentenced Monica Radegonde of La Gogue to one
year imprisonment for house breaking and stealing. |
