The new director of
the International Labour Organisation (ILO) for the Indian Ocean region
is in Seychelles on her first visit.
Mrs Dayina Mayenga,
who arrived in the country Monday September 15, was appointed to the
post on December 1, 2002.
During her six-day
stay, Mrs Mayenga will present her Letters of Appointment to Mr Jérémie
Bonnelame, Minister for Foreign Affairs.
She will also call
on Mr Dolor Ernesta, Minister of Social Affairs and Employment. Meetings
have also been scheduled with other senior Government officials and with
social partners.
Seychelles
became a member of ILO in 1977 and from 1977 to date, the country has
benefited and is continuing to benefit from ILO through provision of
consultancy and funding of seminars/workshops relating to the field of
employment.
Mrs Mayenga, who is
based in
Madagascar,
replaces Mrs Catherine Hein, who took up a new post at the ILO
Headquarters in Geneva.
