| Provisional results put Seychelles' population at 81,177 |

Provisional results
of the national population and housing census 2002 indicate a population
of 81,177 people and 20,391 households in Seychelles. According to a MISD
(Management and Information Systems Division) news release, provisional
results of the census also reveal that the population is made up of
40,432 males and 40,745 females. The most heavily
populated district, according to the results, is Anse Etoile with 4,272
people, followed by Anse Boileau (3,994) and Beau Vallon (3,797), while
the district with the smallest population is La Digue and Inner Islands
(2099). According to the
news release the Census Office is currently analysing the data and would
be publishing the main results in a few months' time. The Census Office
has also thanked everyone who have assisted the exercise in one way or
another. |
