A dozen local trainers are currently following a
week-long course conducted by a Malaysian expert at Seychelles Institute
of Administration (SIM) where the Seychellois normally lecture.
The course which the full and part-time lecturers
are following comes at a significant time when SIM is consolidating its
role as the leading institution for management development in
Seychelles.
Principal Secretary Mohamed Afif of the Ministry of
Administration and Manpower said this on Monday October 27 when he
launched the course, whose main facilitator is Ms Lee Meng Foon, the
head of Malaysia's Communication and Training Development Centre of the
country's National Institute of Public Administration (INTAN).
Speaking in the presence of the Minister for
Administration and Manpower, Ms Noellie Alexander, Mr Afif said the
course has come at a significant time when SIM is focusing on the
quality of the service it provides.
He noted that the institution has a small but
diverse team of dedicated professional staff who over the years have
worked hard to maintain standards of course development.
Participants at the course are expected to discuss
the training process and curriculum design, and how to be effective
trainers.
INTAN is Malaysia's central training agency and
conducts more than 1,000 courses involving more than 30,000 government
officials every year.
