Seychelles and China formalise procedures over R18m grant

Seychelles and China on Wednesday July 2,  formalised banking and accounting procedures over an equivalent of R18 million which China pledged to give to the country for different projects to be carried out here soon.

The principal secretary for Finance, Francis Chang-Leng, signed the apertaining agreement on behalf of the Government of Seychelles as Chinese Ambassador Her Excellency Chen Meifen signed for the Government of the People's Republic of China.

Present at the ceremony, which took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' headquarters at Mont Fleuri, were among others the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Jeremie Bonnelame, who said that the people of Seychelles had appreciated development aid which China had accorded Seychelles since this island nation's independence.

H.E. Mrs Meifen said it was always a pleasure for China to contribute to Seychelles' development and expressed confidence that such gestures did strengthen the relations between the two nations.
