Seventeen new cabin crew have joined Air Seychelles
following 15 weeks of training in inflight cabin services.
The 14 female and 3 male crew members were
presented with their certificates by the airline’s Cabin Services
Manager Elsia Hoareau in a ceremony at Seafront Restaurant, Maison du
Peuple, on Friday March 5.
The training conducted by Air Seychelles’ cabin
services and flight operations training instructors covered inflight
service and safety procedures, customer care, dangerous goods
regulations, aviation security and basic restraining techniques, flight
time limitation, grooming, first aid and duty free sales.
Other training components, which included flight
emergency procedures, evacuations and slide drills for the newly
graduated crew were carried out at the Air Mauritius Training Centre at
the Sir Seewasagoor Ramgoolam International Airport in Mauritius.
Friday’s graduation ceremony was attended by Eddie
Belle, principal secretary for tourism who is also Air Seychelles board
director; Marja MacGaw, principal secretary for Employment; parents and
friends of the graduates and other officials.
In a short address prior to the presentation of
certificates, Mr Belle, who was also the guest speaker at the ceremony,
reminded the new graduates that they were the first and last impressions
to customers and despite the ups and downs of their job they must always
be ready to overcome any difficulties and be able to interact easily
with people of different cultural backgrounds.
He also appealed to them to make the best of this
opportunity and enhance their knowledge as much as possible so that in
future they can achieve their aims in life.
Mr Belle also outlined the role and contribution of
cabin crew towards the tourism industry.
Awards were also presented to the four best
performers.
Miss Vesna Gertrude received the best overall
performer award as well as the best female performer award while Mr
Ashley Alexis took the best male performer award.

performer award.
On behalf of the management and staff of Air
Seychelles, Ms Hoareau congratulated the new flight attendants for
having successfully completed their initial training programme and
reminded them of their role and responsibilities to better fulfill their
duties effectively and efficiently.
Ms Hoareau stated that by improving and developing
the acquired skills they would be able to perform their duties
competently to make Air Seychelles the preferred airline in the Indian
Ocean.
The company, she said, will continue to maintain
zero tolerance on lack of discipline, arrogance and other negative
attitudes and those responsible would be made accountable for their
unacceptable actions.
