Members of
the Hindu community gathered at the Sri Navasakthi Vinagayar Temple in
Victoria on Saturday December 6 at night for the launching of a souvenir
book commemorating 10 years of the Hindu Kovil Sangam in Seychelles.
In a short ceremony,
Hindu Kovil Sangam chairman Ramakrishnan Pillay said that the Hindu
community was glad to have a place in a society like Seychelles where
different cultures and religions can co-exist peacefully.
Indian High
Commissioner Malay Mishra, the Minister for Local Government, Sports and
Culture, Sylvette Pool and Victoria mayor Florence Benstrong were on
hand for the official souvenir release of the book
Mr Mishra, in full
ceremonial garb, officially presented the book’s first copy to Minister
Pool.
The bilingual
publication, written in both English and Tamil, features articles and
photos about the Hindu religion and the growth of the temple’s following
during the past decade.
The book also
includes messages from President France Albert Rene, government
ministers and religious leaders.
