Mid Ocean gets good bargain with Kokonet's wireless

The popularity of internet in Seychelles is on the rise especially with the introduction of a second ISP towards the end of 2000.

Each day, more people are interested in exploring this powerful tool. It is for this reason that Daniel Lai Lam decided to open an internet café-cum-games room in the centre of Victoria.

Situated along Benezeth Street, Mid Ocean Computers is an internet café with a difference. It is one among several  companies taking advantage of Kokonet's wireless service. In fact, getting access to the wireless technology was one of the main reasons Mr Lai Lam said he got connected with Kokonet.

"Since I’ve been connected to Kokonet wireless service it has been a new experience, concerning reliability and fast internet connection speed whilst using advanced technology, which my business relies on as on-line gaming requires large amounts of bandwidth, stable connection and low rates. Our clients are connected to servers mainly in the United States, U.K and our local server in the cafe," he said.
Equipped with eight fully multimedia computers, Mid Ocean Computers is frequented by both students and adults. The company’s clients benefit from the high speed internet connection which enables the café to provide on-line gaming, a popular leisure activity around the world for both young and old.

Apart from the on-line services, Mid Ocean Computers sells games for Sony Playstation 2, Xbox and PC. Clients also have the option of saving their work or downloaded items to compact discs. Burning of CD-R and DVD-R and other mass duplication of data is also an added service for those who want an extra copy of their original one. The traditional printing service is also available with the choice to print coloured documents as well.

The business is already proving to be a success as the owner is already thinking of expanding.

The internet café opens from 9.00 a.m to 6.00 p.m form Monday to Saturday.
