Indian ship's crew to carry out community work

The crew of the Indian naval ship who has just completed a hydrographic survey off Seychelles' waters will be carrying out community welfare activities this week.

These will include voluntary work at the Foyer de Nazareth orphanage and the Sisters of Charity, Mother Teresa's Mission at Anse Etoile.

Apart from voluntary work, the ship plans to conduct free medical check up and donation of provisions at the orphanages.

It is to be recalled that the ship, INS Nirdeshak, has been conducting a hydrographic survey off the waters of Seychelles in conjunction with the Hydrographic and Topographic brigade of the Seychelles Coast Guard since November 19.

The ship completed the survey yesterday and will be in harbour till December 18 before departing for India.

It is during the ship's stay in harbour that the crew will be carrying out these community welfare activities.

The ship will also be open to the public from 10.30 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. on December 17.
