License required to use wireless equipment in Seychelles

The Ministry of Information Technology and Communication (MITC) has reminded the public and other organisations that a license is required to operate any wireless radiocommunication equipment in Seychelles.

Approval must first be sought from the ministry before any wireless communication equipment is brought into the country and clearances should also be sought for any frequencies to be used.

According to the ministry there are some individuals and organisations that have brought in equipment which have been programmed to use certain frequencies. However, when in Seychelles, these equipment cannot be used on those frequencies as they will cause interference.

Certain frequencies have already been allocated and this is within a plan, which is also the case in other countries.

The minsitry says it is in the interest of all to seek the necessary advice before buying or operating such equipment.
