Do you need help but
do not want to make yourself known? If so you can call the hotline
number 718000 for assistance.
The hotline is being
administered by the Association of Fathers Promoting Responsible
Parenthood (AFPRP).
The service has been
made possible thanks to telecommunication company AirTel, which has
provided the association with a new mobile phone worth R2,500 and a
fixed line.
It was the company's
public relations officer Gail Talma who presented the phone to AFPRP
chairperson Reginald Elizabeth in a short ceremony held recently at
AirTel's head office at Providence.
When the committee
came into office on February 22, 2003, the members thought it would be a
good idea for the association to run its own hotline.
In April this year,
AFPRP personnel acquired communication skills during a training workshop
ran by expert facilitators.
This would help the
11 active members of the association, who will be answering the calls of
people in need of help, to better understand, counsel and guide them.
The hotline will
operate on a 24-hour basis.
Mr Elizabeth took
this opportunity to thank and reassure AirTel that the mobile phone and
fixed line would be put into good use to counsel people suffering from
social problems like domestic violence and child abuse.
On behalf of AirTel,
Ms Talma said that the telecommunication company was proud to support
AFPRP in its effort to help the community at large. |
