The name Explorer
might sound stylish enough, but its originality lies in its creative,
natural decor where the sweet scent of citronelle essence and fresh
aroma of the Badamier wood mingle with the synthetic feel of a series of
high tech gadgets.
Recently opened on
the first floor of the elegant MS Complex on Quincy Street, Explorer is
a small business centre offering a variety of services in a very
private milieu.
It is one of the
numerous new businesses that will occupy the available commercial spaces
being rented out in the complex.
With part of its
ceiling decorated with layers of rustic latanier leaves, the sitting
area, computer booths and shelves made up of thick and coarse pieces of
wood as well as white curtains produced from fibrous materials, the
centre houses an Internet bureau, a video rental and a business section.
What might seem to
be like an opening in the woods is in fact the gateway to the
superhighway where people can connect through the Internet, have some
fun with on-line games and even watch a movie.
The Internet bureau
comprises seven computers, five in the public cubicle and two in the
private booth. The centre charges 75 cents per minute for Internet
surfing. A series of computer accessories like modems, microphones,
speakers, memory and audio cards are also available at the bureau.
Besides operating as
an Internet café, the bureau can also be used to provide basic training
for clients who are not well versed with computers.
The video rental
offers a variety of latest releases as well as classic movies for both
children and adults in their original DVD formats and games for Play
Station 2. The centre also rents out Play Stations 2. The movies are
rented out at R20 for a day and the centre demands a fee of R15 for
overdue.
In the business
section, clients have access to different facilities like photocopying,
binding, lamination and other office services.
A spokesperson for
the company, Galen Bresson, said Explorer was an ideal place for people
to work and entertain themselves at the same time.
"We have all the
necessary facilities for clients seeking a temporary office in a private
,but relaxed area," Mr Bresson said.
He said the centre
can also provide sales, public relations and marketing services for
other firms.
Mr Bresson has also
said the video rental is to, every now and then, sell its DVDs in order
to replenish its stock and keep up with latest releases. |
