Two Seychellois
representing the tourism sector will be visiting India on a
familiarisation tour of the country’s tourism offerings.
Anna
Butler-Payette, the managing director for 7 Degrees South, and Jerome
Dogley, producer and director for the Seychelles Broadcasting
Corporation (SBC), will attend the International Travel and Tourism Mart
at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi from September 26-28.
Mr Dogley, who is
also the host of SBC’s Check-In programme, and Mrs Butler-Payette
will also meet officials from the Indian tourism ministry and visit a
number of tourism-oriented destinations.
The trip has been
entirely funded by India’s tourism ministry.
According to the
Indian High Commission, the tour is a follow-up to the visit of Y.K.
Jain, the director of India’s tourist office in Johannesburg, who came
to Seychelles earlier this year to promote tourism from Seychelles to
India.
The air tickets for
the 10-day visit were presented to Mrs Butler-Payette and Mr Dogley by
the Indian High Commissioner Malay Mishra in a small ceremony last week.
During that same
ceremony, an officer of the Seychelles People's Defence Forces (SPDF),
Mr Pat Michel Marie, who will be attending a Petty Officers Radio course
in India, was also presented with his airline ticket by H.E. Mishra.
The course, which
started on Monday September 22, is being conducted by the Signal School,
INS Venduruthy, and it will run until February 28, 2004.
