Air Seychelles has
announced that two of its Twin Otter aircraft are back into the
inter-island scheduled service.
This follows a
four-day suspension of flights during which all the three aircraft were
thoroughly examined for passenger safety purposes after the
undercarriage of a Twin Otter was damaged last Sunday September 20.
Two South African
aircraft structural engineers from South African Airways were flown in
on Monday to inspect the landing gears on all three Twin Otters so as to
ensure that no structural faults were present on any of the other
undercarriage supports.
Air Seychelles
General Manager for Engineering, Mr Michael Jack, said: "The two
aircraft structural engineers have x-rayed and carried out magnetic
particle inspection (MPI) to search for cracks on the legs of all the
Twin Otters. The thorough tests have indicated with certainty that no
cracks are present on all the Twin Otters' undercarriages."
Mr Jack explained
that the assessment works on the damaged Twin Otter would continue and
the new parts would be flown in to replace the damaged leg.
Meanwhile, Air
Seychelles has confirmed that its inter-island services has resumed and
daily flights to Praslin and charter flights to Denis, Bird and other
outer islands are operating.
