Social Workers' Day
Minister urges social workers to strive for professionalism

"Social workers of today must have a more preventive role than curative.  They should strive for self-development, professionalism in order to meet with society’s expectations and everyday challenges."

Such is the gist of a message by the Minister for Social Affairs and Employment Mr Dolor Ernesta on the occasion of Social Workers' Day being celebrated on Saturday October 4.

In his message Minister Ernesta notes that Seychelles, in its efforts to perfectionalise social work, has now got its own school of social work, where more social work knowledge and skills could be acquired.

"I would like to reiterate my sincere wish to see a stronger commitment of social workers toward self-development in this strive to professional social work," Minister Ernesta says.

"Despite difficulties that are encountered by social workers it is still felt that the work they do is valuable and indispensable.

"I would like to congratulate our social workers on doing their best to help bring about change. Continue to develop yourselves and strive for excellence in the services that you provide," the message adds.
