The Creative Workshop has been announced winner of
the contract for the 2004 telephone directory, by the Ministry of
Information Technology and Communication.
The MITC announcement follows the initial
advertisement for tenders for the contract, which appeared in the Nation
in March this year, and which attracted three bids.
Having won the tender the Creative Workshop is now
looking at a mid-May 2004 publication date for the new directory and is
expecting to produce 37,000 copies.
This will be the second consecutive year that the
Creative Workshop has won the contract and the company is increasing the
number of directories it produces by 2,000, following a short fall last
year.
Formed in 2001 the Creative Workshop admitted that
a variety of difficulties had resulted in a number of mistakes appearing
in the last edition of the phone book.
However, the company has since conducted a thorough
audit of it's working practices, aimed at eliminating errors from the
forthcoming edition.
Speaking on behalf of the company Ms Jacqueline
Poole said that the 2004 phone book would contain pull out sheets for
customer feedback and would be followed three months after the launch by
a supplement covering any numbers left out of the original copy, such as
telephone lines reconnected following the publishing date.
The Seychellois owned and run business will also
produce a number of hard back copies which will be available at public
call boxes.
While the Creative Workshop will be contacting
business establishments over the next couple of months in order to
confirm their contact details, the MITC Telecommunications Division is
requesting members of the public whose details were incorrect in the
previous issue to contact their telecommunications service provider.
The deadline for submitting amendments is November
14.
