The Minister for
Health, Mr Patrick Pillay, has pledged his ministry's total support to
teachers of the National Institute for Health and Social Studies (NIHSS)
for their recently launched five-year institutional development plan
produced and being implemented by them.
Speaking in his
message on the occasion of Teachers' Day celebrated on Sunday October 5,
Minister Pillay also expresses his ministry’s desire to see that NIHSS
teachers are provided with a brand new training facility to make their
work an enriching experience, adding that his ministry is working hard
to make this long overdue need a reality.
Noting it is now 5
years since the NIHSS has been reintegrated in the Ministry of Health,
Minister Pillay says the training institution has remained an
indispensable commodity and contributer to the development of heath care
in Seychelles.
Noting that one of
his ministry's top priorities is the sustainable development of human
resources to meet its ultimate goal of ‘health for all and health by
all’, Minister Pillay says that NIHSS teachers are in the forefront of
this noble mission.
"On the occasion of
the International Teachers’ Day, it is with great contentment I
acknowledge your services as teachers in shaping the lives of the future
health professional in our country. You have taken many strides in the
overall development of your profession as teachers and improving the
teaching and learning process along the way," Minister Pillays says in
his message.
To conclude,
Minister Pillay, on behalf of his ministry, congratulates the NIHSS
teachers for their hard work and ask them to continue the good work and
to take heed of the statement “He who stops being better, stops being
good”.
