Barclays re-positions foreign counter for more efficient services

In order to ensure that its customers always receive professional services, Barclays Bank Seychelles has announced that it has re-positioned its foreign counter service at its main branch on Independence Avenue.

According to the managing director of the bank, Mr Paul Freer, this move is in line with Barclays Bank (Sey) new strategy and vision of service. The bank, he said, was in the process of separating personal from business banking, for it to better meet the needs of the two categories of customers.

For personal banking it has set up a personal bankers or customer service advisors in the banking hall to provide a more individual service whereby for its business customers, a relationship manager has been appointed to provide a first point of contact service.

The foreign counter which previously occupied a whole department has been re-located within the main banking hall, so as to reduce queuing, increase clarity and enhance personal service.

The foreign counter consists of the travellers cheque and bank drafts services which have been re-located at the "bureau de change" of cash, under the personal banking service. In line with this customers can now collect their pre-prepared drafts at the personal banker collection point.

The trade services have been re-positioned under the Corporate and Business Relationship managers.

"In this way we address and meet the different needs of both our personal and business customers," the MD said.

To further enhance the bank's service to personal customers, the company was looking at when and how it could open a  "bureau de change" service for foreign exchange at the Market Street branch, Mr Freer said.

The service is already being provided at Barclays branch at Baie St Anne, Praslin.

The staff new uniforms was also another area where the bank was pushing towards improving its image and placing its staff "at the top of the best dressed league in the country," Mr Freer told Business Nation.

Barclays staff have changed from their pale blue uniforms to dark bluish ones.

"Barclays is one of the market leaders in the international financial services market and we at Barclays Bank (Sey) Ltd, are looking to bring the benefits of this expertise to the Seychelles whenever and wherever we can see that it will add value to our business and the economy," the MD stated.
