The Seychelles National Party (SNP) has announced that it is proceeding
with a rotation of one of its proportionally elected members of the
National Assembly.
As
from Thursday's sitting of the National Assembly, Mrs Annette Georges
will replace Mrs Ebrona Brioche, a communiqué from the SNP secretariat
said on Wednesday February 25.
The communiqué said that following the recommendation of the executive
committee of the party in December, 2003 to propose party leader, Wavel
Ramkalawan, as presidential candidate at the next Presidential
Elections, Mr Ramkalawan had designated Mrs Georges as his
vice-presidential candidate. Both proposals will be put to the next
party convention for endorsement.
"In line with the foregoing proposals, the party leader, Mr Ramkalawan,
has decided that Mrs Georges be given further opportunity to participate
in the national political life in order that the party members can make
a proper assessment of her abilities in the run-up to the 2004
convention," the communiqué said.
The communiqué added that the party leader and the executive committee
"appreciate and commend the excellent contribution that Mrs Brioche has
made in the Assembly during the past year".
Mrs Brioche will take up new responsibilities at the party headquarters. |
