Island Vibration makes comeback with Revenge World

A lot of people may have wondered what happened to Praslin-based group Island Vibration who sang the instant hit song Divan Soufle.

That song was so popular, that it was strange no one ever encouraged the members of the group to surmount their difficult moments and achieve more success in their musical career.

For the love of music, Lindy Dubignon, male singers Paul Mémé and Philip Barra, Tony Accouche (bass guitar), Bertin Télémaque (keyboard) and Peter Zatt (lead guitar) have persevered and for some time now they have been working on a new album – Revenge World - due to come out on March 29.

The 11-track album is a mixture of reggae, sega and slow production and the lyrics are in English and Creole.

Revenge World is expected to bring good news to fans who have been waiting impatiently for an album from the talented group, who had in the past impressed the local public.

The last time the group released an album was six years ago.

Lonely, Our Dream, Testified, Crazy, Revenge World, Mon Zetwal, Imen, Toulezour, Lanmour Anmer and Divan Soufle are the 11 songs to appear on the long-awaited album. The group has decided to include on the album two versions of Revenge World – one that was originally sung by Ambitious and a new version by themselves.

All the songs have been written and sung by members of the group.

According to Mr Telemaque, the album is about everyday situations. They have chosen Revenge World as title because today, he said, “we are living in a revenge world, where there is political conflicts and where forgiveness does not exist.”

The group has also included Divan Soufle due to public demand.

The 11-track album, which costs R125, was recorded at Relations Studio, La Misère, and will be on sale at the usual outlets on Mahe, Praslin and La Digue.

Talking about the difficulties to produce the album, Mr Telemaque said that it was very tough for them Praslin musicians to release a new album.

He noted that it was not easy to get sponsors and most of the time they had to pay for their own expenses.

Mr Telemaque had words of thanks to Joseph Sinon and Clifford Thelemaque, who he said, have helped the group to produce the album.

If everything goes well, the group is expected to stage a show at the International Conference Centre (ICCS) soon.
