The notice boards indicating the names of each of
the 15 roads at the Providence Industrial Estate (PIE) are due to be set
up soon.
This was announced by the Minister for Industries
and International Business, Mr Jacquelin Dugasse, when he was answering
questions in the National Assembly last Tuesday.
The question about the possibility to set up an
address system at PIE was asked by Hon. Nicholas Prea, the MNA for Bel
Ombre.
Minister Dugasse said that a committee, chaired by
the Land Transport Division, has been meeting for some time now to
decide the names for the roads at PIE.
The committee, he said, has decided to give them
the names of popular ships which had called in Port Victoria in the past
or which had been part of our maritime history like the ill-fated
schooner Mary Jane, and those of rare plants found in our
environment. The names chosen, he said, had received government
approval.
A board indicating the location and distance of
each of the roads, he said, would be erected by the roadside at the
entrance to the PIE. Naming the roads, the minister said, would make it
easier to identify the location of the businesses situated at the PIE,
hence facilitating the delivery of post mails. |
