Mr Albert Payet has been re-elected as the chairman of the Seychelles Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) for another year.

This occurred during SCCI's annual general meeting which was held on Thursday April 1 at the National Theatre, Mont Fleuri.

Mr Bernard Pool was elected as the vice-chairman, Mr Paul Chow as the honorary secretary and Yusuf Suleman as the treasurer.

12 other members were elected as office bearers.

According to a press communiqué from SCCI, Mr Payet has expressed optimism "that the Chamber would be called upon by the new administration to assist in the task of restoring our economy." He offered the incoming President James Alix Michel "the Chamber's hand in partnership to help solve the problems of the country," pointing out that "there had never been a better opportunity than now for the Chamber to play a significant role in changing the way in which business is conducted in Seychelles."
