A new evaluation
scheme will be adopted for short-course participants in 2004 at the
Seychelles Institute of Management (SIM), the school has announced.
The method involves
awarding two types of certificates at the end of the courses – a
Certificates of Merit and a Certificate of Attendance. Certificates of
Attendance will be awarded to participants who have 100 percent
attendance, while Certificates of Merit will be awarded to participants
who have successfully demonstrated understanding and application of the
subject matter, in addition to having a perfect attendance record.
SIM said the new
certificates would aid organisations in giving fair increments,
promotions or rewards to its employees, since the evaluations
distinguish between participants who have worked hard in comparison to
those who have merely attended the courses.
The new method is
also an important factor in building up a valuable database on SIM's
participants for future references and records purposes, said the
institute.
SIM said it feels
confident that the new approach will create a sense of competitiveness
and motivate participants to gain the most they can out of a course.
The approach is part of the improved 'value for money programmes' that
also takes into consideration the application procedures for all its
courses.
All participants
need to fill in entry forms before they are accepted to join courses, to
confirm the applicant’s information and ensure that they satisfy entry
requirements.
Information on
SIM's short courses and application forms can be found on its Web site,
www.sim.sc.
Application forms can be downloaded directly from the website. Brochures
can be collected at SIM at Ma Joie.
