affecting the community or bringing her happiness.
Speaking to Arts Page Rosalinda recounts how
this great achievement came about.
Having numerous poems in her collection, she would
occasionally send a few to the International Society of Poets based in
the U.S.
In April 2003, much to her delight, she received a
letter informing her that Noble House would like her to send one of her
poems for its book.
According to Rosalinda the published poem, entitled
A Cry for Peace, is very special since she wrote it on the day
war broke out in the gulf on March 20, 2003, which coincidentally was
also the day she celebrated her 34th birthday.
"I was concerned about the innocent victims and the
tearing apart of the world," said Rosalinda.
Noble House offered to publish her poem free of
charge but in order to get an original copy of the book Rosalinda had to
pay a contribution fee.
Rosalinda said she did not mind doing this as she
felt very proud to know that a prestigious publishing house thought her
poem was good enough for publication.
This is not the first time this young poet gets
international recognition for her work; in 2002 she won the Merit Silver
Award Bowl after having participated in the International Open Poetry
Contest.
It is to be noted that Theatre of the Mind
opens with Rosalinda's poem. She is also the only Seychellois to
feature in this publication.
