Seychellois mothers will as from this week have
the option of using Bebe Cool, a new brand of quality diapers
produced at the Diaper Factory at the Providence Industrial Estate
(PIE).
Conceived by young businesslady Jennifer Andre,
Diaper Factory is the result of strong beliefs that with a little
commitment, determination and necessary financial support
entrepreneurs can do a lot to initiate new local products and bring
business to the country.
Mrs Andre feels that though she is investing in
the imports of raw materials, she is in a big way helping to save the
country on much needed foreign exchange.
When people learn to appreciate Seychelles-made
products, she said, they would contribute to reduce the imports of
similar items.
Bebe Cool will be sold in three different
colours and sizes, namely small, medium and large, in various shopping
centers on Mahe. The diapers are being sold at the wholesale price of
R55 for a packet of 24.
The materials including cotton padding, outer and
inner layers and elastic bands are imported from South Africa and
assembled in the factory in Shreeji Construction building. The factory
has the capacity to produce 800 diapers per hour.
Expressing strong optimism about her business and
inviting mothers to trust Bebe Cool, Mrs Andre is giving her
assurance that the diapers are very absorbent and with quality as good
as those imported from overseas. The basic materials being used
overseas, she says, are similar to what she is using.
She says that the diapers, that have already been
market-tested are environmentally friendly and contain no substance
that could be harmful to babies or give them rash.
Mrs Andre has also launched an appeal to daycare
centers interested in buying Bebe Cool to get in touch with
her.
The packaging for Bebe Cool are made by
local company BM Plastics.
The company has invested R100,000 in the setting
up of the factory and in importing the technology from South Africa. |
