The Seychelles Round
Table's community-based projects have received a financial boost from
telecommunications provider Cable & Wireless Seychelles.
A cheque for R5,065
was presented to Round Table's chairman, Mr Robert Stravens, by the
company's chief executive, Mr Geoff Huston, in a brief ceremony held at
the Exiles Club last week.
The money was raised
in a lucky dip -- an activity Cable & Wireless staged during the Regatta
festival held in early August at Beau Vallon.
The donation brings
the company's contributions to Round Table to around R20,000 for this
year. Prior to the Regatta, the company donated some R15,000 to cover
the cost of the festival's T-Shirts.
The proceeds from
this year's Regatta, though not yet finalised, will go towards the
purchase of a bus for the Rehabilitation Centre at North East Point.
Pointing out that
Cable & Wireless has always been one of their most active and reliable
partners, Mr Stravens said the Round Table strongly appreciated the
company's gesture towards worthy community causes.
Other Round Table
members who also attended the ceremony said they were pleased to know
that a major telecommunications company like Cable & Wireless cares
about their causes and was always ready to provide support to their
organisation. |
