Air Seychelles
ceases operation to Reunion
Air Seychelles has announced that it will no
longer have Reunion on its regional network as of Tuesday June 1.
This, according to the airline, is because the
codeshare agreement between Air Seychelles and Air Austral has ended.
Air Austral and Air Seychelles launched their
codeshare agreement in April 1999 whereby the local airline was
allocated a number of business and economy class seats on all Air
Austral flights between Seychelles and Reunion and vice-versa. These
seats were sold by Air Seychelles.
An Air Seychelles spokesperson said: “The current
arrangement is no longer mutually advantageous and it makes no
business sense to continue.”
However, Air Austral will continue its weekly
services to Mahe and people wishing to travel to Reunion can still do
so on Air Austral.
Air Seychelles has confirmed that it is not
planning to operate any scheduled services to Reunion in the near
future. |
