Tearful kids offer comedy in fashion show

The painstaking efforts by parents to keep costumes on 20 young children generated some humour which was capped by a good number of the kids bursting into tears when they got on stage.

As proud fathers' cameras flashed below, some mothers of the not-so-brave models hilariously tried to manually adjust frowns into smiles on the young actors' faces but tears that still flowed from the young Hindus' eyes giving their true feelings away.

This was during a cultural show held at the Seychelles Hindu Kovil Sangam last Saturday night.

Some of the children, however, took an instant liking to the stage and started dancing ñ which was not a scheduled part of the fashion show ñ adding more life to the already colourful event.

Ranging from 2-4 years old, the younger children eventually gave way to older performers who entertained their parents and other Hindus, including Indian High Commissioner Malay Mishra, during an evening of a wide range of cultural manifestations.

Mr Mishra had just presented a portrait of Hindu god, Lord Vinayagar, on behalf Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat of India to the chairperson of Seychelles Hindu Kovil Sangam, Mr Ramakrishnan Pillay.
