Prominent local artist David Andre has announced
that he will be staging two live performances next weekend to promote
his latest album Esper sa Sanson.
The first show will be held at the International
Conference Centre on Friday April 2 starting at 8 p.m., with a repeat
performance being planned for the following day, Saturday April 3 at the
same time and venue.
According to David, who is also the director of the
Choral & Music Society of Seychelles, proceeds from the shows will go
towards funding a tour that the society plans to undertake in July in
France.
David says that, besides the songs that appear on
the album, he will be performing some new ones during the concerts.
Guest artists who will also be performing in the
shows include Gene Essack, Jany de Letourdie and Joe Samy. A group of
children from the Independent School will also be on hand to provide
backing vocals to a few songs.
The musicians who will be accompanying David are
Vivian Amelie (keyboards), Julio Godley (guitar), Daniel Adrienne
(guitar), Jones Benoit (bass), Mervin Nibourette (drums), Remy Zialor
(percussion).
As a bonus attraction, the first part of David's
shows will see a performance by a duet (a pianist and a vocalist) from
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, who are here at the invitation of Alliance
Francaise. As the show they were planning to host here coincided with
David's concerts, David has agreed to let them share the stage with him.
Their performance is expected to be just over half an hour long.
Tickets for the concerts cost R50 apiece and can be
purchased at Alliance Francaise, Ray's Music Room and from members of
the Choral & Music Society. They will also be available at the door on
the days of the shows.
Released in August last year, David's album
Esper sa Sanson is an 11-track compilation on which feature the
all-time favourite title track, as well as the strong, haunting ballad
Ki Fodre Fer, which also seems to have taken the Seychellois
public by storm. Other titles on the album are Vin pli pre obor mwan,
Sant avek mwan, Widen my vision, Give a helping hand, Anmenn mwan, C'est
pour toi and Sa Sanson. |
