Seychelles Breweries Limited (SBL) has announced
that it will be implementing a new shift system in the operations
department as part of an exercise to review the organisation.
According to a press release from the company, as a
result of the new system, the number of workers will be reduced. SBL
says the review is necessary given that sales have gone down by 20%.
"SBL deeply regrets the loss of jobs, but this is
essential to meet the new challenges facing the company. SBL has offered
to help those leaving to find another job," the press release says.
It adds that Diaego, SBL's parent company and the
owner of Guinness, fully supports the restructuring and remains
committed to the long-term future of SBL and of Seychelles.
The press release also states that all employees
have been notified of these changes and that during the next two weeks,
SBL will discuss with them the details before the new shift system and
restructured organisation are implemented.
