Mahek to open new pool-side lunch bistro at Coral Strand
To close take-away in town

The structure by the pool at Coral Strand to be transformed into a new bistro by October

The management of Indian restaurant Mahek has announced that it will be closing its take-away at the Oliaji Trade Centre in town as it embarks on a new fast food project at the Beau Vallon-based Coral Strand Hotel.

The take-away in town will serve its clients for the last time on Thursday April 29 and its operations will merge with the new bistro to be set up by the pool at the Coral Strand.

Once the bistro becomes operational by October of this year, Indian food lovers would during lunch hours only get the chance to enjoy a wider selection of food at the pool-side. The Mahek restaurant itself will be open daily for dinner only. Besides opening for dinner during the week, Mahek was previously open for lunch on Saturday and Sunday.

The new outlet, the manager of Mahek Mr Nithin Vashisht told Business Nation, would not only promote India's unique concept of fast food, but would likewise enable Mahek to expand its services and meet its clients expectations.

Mr Vashisht said at the pool-side bistro clients, tourists and locals alike, could eat a variety of freshly cooked Indian food, in an open and more relaxed atmosphere, compared to eating in the restaurant which is more formal.  Clients will also be able to sit back and watch their food being prepared and cooked.

Mr Vashisht said the quality of food to be offered would also help to raise the hotel's profile.

After discovering Indian cuisine, Mahek's Chef Garima said, people are no longer content with just the meal time food offered at the restaurant.

"Their appetite has grown for other delicacies, especially the in-between-meal snacks or lighter foods like Indian burgers, sandwiches, salads and our own savoury substitute for French fries," she said.

The "Indian fries" and chicken tikka masala sandwich are just two of an array of mouth-watering surprising fast food delicacies clients will be treated to at reasonable prices.

Although it is closing its operations in town, Mahek will continue to supply the Teemooljee Tea Shop with the popular hot snack like samoosas and chilli cakes.

People who are organising parties and other special occasions are also advised to book one day in advance their orders for snacks, another service offered by Mahek.

Besides the opening of the bistro in October, Mahek is also planning a Punjabi food festival in July to be followed by Goan and Rajasthan food festivals.  Each of the food festival will be accompanied by their respective folk music.
