New take-away opens
Looking for good food ... visit JB's

A new take-away business, situated in the very the heart of the Providence Industrial Estate, has opened its doors and its three-strong staff believe its food can satisfy any appetite any day.

Named JB's after its owner, Ms Jesintha Barbé, the take-away also specialises in the making of light snacks including rolls, sandwiches, pizzas and cakes.

Besides Ms Barbé, JB's also employs two chefs in the persons of Michael Bastienne and Ange Arrisol and together they form a dynamic team, which the owner says "are at the full service of our clients."

Ms Barbé has been in the take-away business for more than ten years and was a well-known figure at the Marine Charter take-away where she took orders and always served the customers with a welcoming smile.

In fact, she was such a popular person with the Marine Charter clients that some of them are now choosing to make the trip to her take-away at Providence every lunch-time.

After leaving Marine Charter a couple of years back, Ms Barbé tried for greener pastures at the Providence take-away for 13 months before finally deciding to set up her own business.

"JB's is my dream project and through it, I've achieved an important goal in my life," says a beaming Ms Barbé, adding that she has gained so much experience throughout the years that it is now time to turn those to her benefit.

You name it, Ms Barbé claims to have done it at one time in her "take-away life" and she has skills in taking orders, purchasing, management and supervision. And when the cook is late or absent, Ms Barbé says she steps in herself.

JB's, which Ms Barbé says thrives on uniqueness and simplicity, offers the comfort of seatings whereby its clients can enjoy their food in tranquillity and later discard the boxes or food remains in the allocated bins.

"JB's is a meeting place and my clients can chat peacefully whilst having their lunch," Ms Barbé points out, adding that she always welcomes her buyers with a smile and offers them the best service, two assets which according to her are lacking in some take-aways in Seychelles.

Ms Barbé says she has a different menu every day but she also keeps in mind that "we're there to please our clients", the reason why JB's offers both Creole and European dishes.

If you have the taste buds for real Creole food, then JB's can offer you octopus curry, grilled fish, rougay pwason sale, lantir graton amongst others, whereas for the meat-craving customers there are stew, curry, sauté and roast dishes prepared from pork, beef and chicken.

JB's is open from 7 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. from Friday to Saturday and also offers occasional service on Sundays, especially in busy weekends or in times of festivities.
