Credit for local excellence |

It was a treat to watch on the 8 p.m.
television news on Friday 8th August, the excellent film of the
relocation of female White-eyes to Fregate
Island. The sensitive filming and recording of these delicate birds with
their beautiful song and the gentle care of the birds by the Ministry of
Environment staff was sensitively shown. The White-eye story has
been regularly reported for us by the T.V. team as progress with the
project has continued.
The group of Seychellois staff in charge
of this latest development should be congratulated on their
professionalism and assurance. It was a great thing to hear the
pride with which Perley Constance told us that it was the first time
that a group of Seychellois conservationists had carried out this work
themselves, without the need to bring in foreign staff to do it for
them. Excellent!
