PLAISANCE Secondary School emerged as this year’s
winners of the U15 and U18 Holympics (school holiday games) netball
tournament which was played Wednesday at the Seychelles Marketing Board
(SMB) Exhibition Hall, Roche Caïman.
In the U18 age category final, defending champions
Plaisance made easy meat of Pointe Larue whom they defeated 9-3 to
retain their title.
As for the Plaisance U15 team, they had to work
very hard to overcome a determined English River on a 10-6 score.
It is to be noted that Plaisance and English River
were the only two teams that registered in the U15 division and they
qualified directly for the final.
In the U18 age group, five teams participated and
they were divided into two pools – A and B.
Pool A comprised Mont Fleuri and Anse Boileau while
Pool B was made of Plaisance, Pointe Larue and Praslin.
To book their tickets for the final, Plaisance
first eliminated Pointe Larue on a tight 11-12 score and then thumped
Praslin 10-0 in the pool matches. Plaisance later outscored Anse Boileau
(18-1) in the cross knockout semifinal.
After finishing first in pool A, Mont Fleuri, who
beat Anse Boileau 13-8 in their first match, qualified for the second
semifinal, losing 7-11 to Pointe Larue.
